NuMe Install & First Use Tutorials

How-to install Apple TestFlight & NuMe by PG App
+ NuMe Survival Guide for your first steps with the NuMe App

To be a beta tester for any IOS app you will need to download the free Apple IOS TestFlight App available at the App store.

You can do this anytime. Here Or launch the Apple’s App Store App from your iPhone, search for Apple TestFlight and install it, it’s free.

You can use TestFlight on up to 10 devices and test multiple Apps for multiple developers, there is no limit to the number of Apps that you can test simultaneously. TestFlight can be used to test iOS apps on iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch (running iOS 8 or later) and the new Apple TV.

NuMe by PG will run on iPhone 5, 6, 6+, 7, 7+, 8, 8+ and iPod Touch, with minimal IOS 9 version.
We need to send you an invitation to join our beta testing program. Please leave your email here. If you are just joining the process you will automatically receive a Notification from Apple via Test Flight inviting you to download and install our app.

1- On your iPhone, launch your Mail App, locate the Apple TestFlight Invitation email in your inbox, check you spam folder in case you can’t find it, open the TestFlight email and click the start testing button. Follow the on screen instructions as described below

2- Still on your iPhone it should open a Apple web page, copy the redemption code provided there (long press on the code then [copy]), and switch to the TestFlight App. A popup will confirm the download has started.

3- It may have started to download automatically the NuMe beta App. If not it may ask you the redeem code. Enter the redemption code you just copied, and press redeem. A popup will confirm the download of the NuMe beta App has started.

4- You can now launch the NuMe beta App from TestFlight or directly from your iPhone dashboard. You will see an orange dot next to its name icon that identifies it as a beta version.
- Make sure you have an internet connection.
- App beta is called NuMe (pronounce New Me).
- Launch the App by taping on its icon.
- At 1st launch, you will be asked to create an account with email/password to connect your App with Portable Genomics (PG) server. Tap [Need an Account?]. Without registering, you won’t be able to use the App. It is a mandatory step. You can read PG Privacy Policy document here.
- Regular type of information is asked during the registration process, for account administration, i.e. to reset your password and to create a secure connection between your App and PG backend.
- Every time you will launch NuMe, you’ll be asked with your password and a secured connection with our server will occur. Thus an internet connection is really mandatory.
- When using NuMe, every time you bring the NuMe App in the background of your iPhone, and come back to NuMe, you’ll be asked your password again for security reason.
- It is also recommended to have the iPhone Auto-Lock activated. When you leave NuMe opened, as soon as auto-lock starts, NuMe will be locked too and will requires your password to access it back to protect your privacy.
4 views are available in NuMe, the [Home] view, the [Modules] view, the [Share] view, and the [Settings] view.
- NuMe being a user-driven and modular App, you will build your own App.
- At first use the [Home] view is empty until you start adding data collection modules.

- Modules will appear immediately in the [Home] view,
- You will then navigate in modules from the [Home] view.
- You have 3 navigation options in the [Home] view. Point your finger on a module line and:

4) [Add Popular Modules]

(1) [create module]
Let’s you [Create] your own data collection module.

- You need to input mandatory information a) name of module 2) units for collected data (choose from a list) c) the value range you expect for that type of data (normal value ranges are not mandatory but can be entered), d) data input type (manual, HealthKit or device).
- You can decide/or not, to activate [Sharing] which indicates your « willingness to share » data from this module. It is just a willingness information you send to the backend, no data is actually shared. And you can opt-in, opt-out instantly by coming back to this screen.
- You can decide/or not, to activate [Be Part of a Sharing List]. Same with [Sharing], it is a willingness to share data with a non-profit or for-profit project. More information on this feature later.
- You can decide/or not, to add a [Notes] field in your module.
- You can decide to add a [reminder] to remind you to collect data. - When done, do not forget to press the [Save] button on the top right of your screen.

HealthKit capture feature is functional, more explanation to come. Until then, you can experiment it after selecting for additional information, the HealthKit type of data you want to collect, from a list provided by Apple, see the [HealthKit Field] option.

Device capture is also functional. Right now we have embedded only the Withings API 5now part of Nokia) to capture data from Withings devices (Pulse O2, Smart Body Analyzer and Smart Kid Scales, Blood Pressure Monitor, Pop Watch, Sleep Monitoring Aura). If you have one of these devices, you can use this feature. More devices to come in the future. In the meantime you can capture data from your wearables through the Healthkit settings.

(2) [Add Predefined Modules]
Let’s you [Add data collection modules] that Portable Genomics has pre-defined and that are available for instant addition in your App.
- As you can see there is a [Cystic Fibrosis Modules] list of modules that have been designed with the collaboration of SDSU, UCSD-CF clinic colleagues and the CFTechnology.org Foundation.
- You can open the list and see available modules by taping on the name’s list. Re-taping will close the list.
- You can then select one by one which module you want to add in your App by taping on the [+] next to the module’s name - You can also add all the modules from the list by taping on the [+] next to the module list’s name.

- Complex modules (i.e. microbiome) will show right away the list of dates with available data entries. Select which one to visualize.
- Most data views in this beta version are text oriented. More graphical views to come later.
- You will notice that you can [add] new data from this view also.

(2) [Sharing For Non-Profit]
- this section will allow you to select projects you’d like to participate to share real data with non-profit projects. PG will push a list of projects, projects definition, type of data required, time range of the project…etc.
- Again, any mention of [sharing] here, is an information about your willingness to share data in the future. It is not sharing real data yet. Consent will be notified through the App at time of real data request.
- This part is not functional yet but can be experimented to create your own list of willingness to share data with various « fake » institutions. More information later.

(3) [Sharing For Profit]
- this section will allow you to select projects you’d like to participate to share real data with the industry for money.  PG will push a list of projects, projects definition, type of data required, time range of the project, and revenue that will be shared between you and Portable Genomics when data is monetized.
- Again, any mention of [sharing] here, is just mentioning your willingness to share data in the future. It is not sharing real data yet. Consent and contract will be notified through the App at time of real data request.
- More information later.
