FAQs

Purpose of NuMe is to collect and aggregate any type of data about you in your own and private data silo that is your mobile device. It can collect lifestyle, behavior, medical and genomic data, any type of data. You do this by creating your own data collection modules, or by using predefined data collection modules that Portable Genomics has designed with medical doctors and researchers.

NuMe can report data you collect with graphics, data lists and pdf that you can share with relatives and caregivers on the fly. Ultimately, NuMe will be soon offering dashboards to view and report aggregated data that you most use or wish to share with doctors.

Additionally, NuMe will be gradually providing intelligent analytics on your data, from very personal and targeted insights, to AI-enabled correlations.

NuMe is also a new type of data sharing platform. Because you own your data on your device, you are given the opportunity to share raw data if you are willing to. This is your decision to opt-in or to opt-out at anytime. With NuMe you just mention your willingness to share (i.e. you don't send your data). If you decide to do so, when a non-profit or for-profit organization will require the type of data you are collecting, NuMe will notify you and will ask for your confirmation to share. If you confirm, you will be receiving a clear consent and/or contract to share data, you will initiate a transfer of your anonymized data, and if data are monetized you will be associated with the revenue.
NuMe by PG has 3 major differentiators.

1- NuMe collects and aggregates data on your phone and personal cloud, not on Portable Genomics servers. Your data remains yours and private.

Portable Genomics in return wants to know three things from you, a) the TYPE OF DATA you collect with NuMe, b) at which pace you collect data with NuMe, c) if you are willing to share real data in the future, with non-profit or for-profit organizations.

2- NuMe provides a new way of sharing data. You are the decision maker.

For each type of data you are collecting with NuMe, you can mention your willingness to share your raw data in the future, with non-profit or for-profit organizations. It is a willingness to share mention, not an actual sharing of data. If you are willing to share raw data in the future, then you can activate the sharing button in the data collection module you want to share data from. If you are not willing to share, then you just leave that sharing button off. This is your decision, and you can change your mind anytime, right away.

Portable Genomics is currently implementing this new sharing process. When a non-profit or for-profit organization is interested by the type of data you are collecting, NuMe will notify you with a request to confirm your willingness to share. Depending on your decision, a consent and contract will be provided to you clearly stating which type of data is requested, for which time interval, and for which type of project.

3- NuMe provides a new business model in data sharing. You are associated with the revenue.

The amount you will be compensated for your data will be clearly stated for your approval or refusal. The raw data exchange process will not be initiated until after you have made your decision and signed. This is your decision, and you can change your mind anytime, right away.

A Cystic Fibrosis Use Case

Collect YOUR CF Data with NuMe

Portable Genomics platform was developed with the participation of the San Diego Cystic Fibrosis community, doctors, researchers and patients.

We are now looking forward partnering with CF patient groups all over the world.

Chronic diseases such as Cystic Fibrosis (CF) require long-term medical treatments and the constant monitoring of the patient’s current health status. It is a difficult challenge for both the patient and the attending physician to monitor and keep track of changes in the large and diverse amount of relevant information that can be generated.

There exists an immediate need for a more efficient health data logging and management system that enables the recording and retrieval of patient health status on a daily basis.

Pre-defined CF Data Modules

Our beta version includes pre-defined data modules to collect the major type of CF-related data including demographics, genetics, spirometry, microbiology, lung microbiome, treatment, nutrition, supplements, mood and hospitalization.
